OpenAI's popular AI chatbot ChatGPT suddenly went down worldwide on Tuesday, causing trouble to millions of users. Users from many countries including America, Europe, Asia and
india complained that they were seeing messages like 'Network error' or 'Too many concurrent requests'.
According to Downdetector's data
82% users faced problems with ChatGPT,
12% had problems on the website,
while 6% users faced problems in the app.
This problem has also been confirmed on OpenAI's status page. The company said that 'degraded performance' is currently going on and the technical team is working on it. OpenAI has said that they have identified the cause of this problem and are trying to fix it soon, although the
service has not yet become completely normal.
Why is ChatGPT down?
Although OpenAI has not given a concrete reason for the problem, experts
believe that there could be several possible reasons behind it:
Increased demand – ChatGPT has grown tremendously in popularity in recent times, especially due to its new features like Ghibli-style image generation and real-time voice mode.
Heavy load on the server – The simultaneous connection of millions of users put extreme pressure on the server, causing the system to either slow down or come to a complete standstill.
Technical glitch – It is possible that this outage was caused by a
software bug, incorrect update, or other technical problem.
Connectivity issues – A problem with connectivity between the internet or the server can also cause such a problem.
Has this happened before?
Yes, this is the second time this month that ChatGPT has gone down. Earlier also, users had to face similar problems.
Users' concerns
This repeated downtime of ChatGPT has raised questions among users about its future reliability, especially when this tool is no longer limited to just chatting, but is being used in many areas like business, education, and content creation. OpenAI says that they are working to normalize the
service as soon as possible. Till then users have been advised to be patient and check updates on the status page.
