The international Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is the world's focal point for nuclear collaboration, advocating the safe, secure, and peaceful use of nuclear technology. The IAEA General Conference assembled in Vienna from september 20 to 24 for its 65th Annual Regular Session. The organisation hosted more than 80 nuclear-related events for the gathering.


India has been selected to do the role of an external auditor for the international Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), beating out germany, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. 


After beating over germany and the United Kingdom, india has been declared as the external auditor of the international Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), an esteemed agency that sustains the peaceful use of nuclear energy, for a six-year span from 2022 to 2027. The voting is a global validation of the CAG's credentials of professionalism, and experience. This validation also recognises India's stature in the international community. Because there were two abstentions, the total number of ballots cast was 125. 123 people were present and voting and the required majority was 62. Earlier from 2012 to 2015, india served as the IAEA's external auditor.


GC Murmu, India's comptroller and auditor general, has been designated as the IAEA's external auditor, according to the ministry of external affairs (MEA). His appointment gained overwhelming support at the IAEA general conference.
