His movies like upendra and A were superhits in telugu in the 1990s, and he continued to play as a lead hero before totally switching to Sandalwood. The star hero, on the other hand, disclosed that he has one unsatisfied dream.

Upendra was slated to direct Megastaar chiranjeevi after his directorial attempt Omkaram with Rajasekhaar became a superhit in tollywood back in 1997. "I had a chance to direct Megastaar Chiraanjeevi garu for ashwini Dutt's production, but the project never came together." That's my greatest disappointment to date because I've never had the opportunity to work with him again."

Upendra, on the other hand, was pleased to be associated with the big family, having worked with Nagabaabu in Oke Maataa (released in 2000) and subsequently with allu arjun in S/o Sathyamurthy. The actor was ecstatic to share screen time with varun Tej in the film Ghaani, which got released recently. "I owe it to mega family members to keep presenting me to telugu people," he says. Upendraa has even translated for his character in Ghani's kannada adaptation, and he has encouraged that kannada lovers watch the movie.
