Many people have started to use the hashtag #BoycottAliaBhatt in reference to the direct Netflix release of the movie "Darlings," claiming that it condones domestic violence against men. However, after watching the film, one cannot help praising alia for her outstanding performance as a Muslim girl who experiences abuse from her husband.

Alia Bhatt is tortured by her husband every night after he drinks while she is portraying Badru, who weds Hamza (Vijay Varma) in what is perceived as a love marriage. Finally, after trying to influence his behaviour, she makes the decision to get retribution. The narrative is rather straightforward and explains why women in these households believe domestic violence to be a natural and acceptable occurrence as well as what would happen if one of them made the opposite choice.

Alia has once again astounded everyone with her outstanding performance in this part that demands a range of emotions from a single scene. She is so faultless in her devotion to the part that vijay varma and Shefali Shah's other characters, who received more attention, were eclipsed. Even in situations where the drama in the film seems to be repeating itself, alia never fails to deliver. The actress had a terrific performance, and director Jasmeet Reen got the best performance out of her after "Gangubhai Kathiawadi."
