Amidst Russia's air strikes on ukraine, one of its Sukhoi Su-34 fighter jets crashed in a residential area on Monday. The engine failure occurred in the residential area of Yeysk port, an important military base on the Azov Sea, close to the Ukrainian border. There is also an airbase of the Russian air Force in the southern Russian city of Yeysk, from where frequent flights are being made to attack Ukraine. 

According to the reports of news agencies, at least 17 residential apartments have been damaged due to the accident, out of which a massive fire broke out on several floors of the building. Efforts were on to extinguish the fire till late night. The number of casualties is not yet clear.


The fire started while flying in the plane, the pilot jumped

The accident has been confirmed in the statement of the Russian Defense Ministry. The ministry said that as soon as the Su-34 fighter jet took off, one of its engines caught fire and it crashed. Before the jet plane crashed, both the pilots on board ejected safely with the help of emergency eject, but the plane fell directly into a residential area. The statement did not give information about the number of people who died or were injured due to this accident.

Military said - it was a training flight

Earlier there were speculations that this fighter jet was going to bomb ukraine or return, but the Russian military made it clear that it was a training flight, which took off from the local airbase.
