Following a car accident in New jersey, the US, earlier this month that left him with a traumatic brain injury and many cracked ribs, an indian student has been fighting for his life in a hospital. On november 12, Vinamra Sharma, a student at New jersey Institute of Technology, was "knocked unconscious" while returning from the college. A GoFundMe website was created in Sharma's support after he was taken to Rutgers university Hospital and diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, according to abhishek Sharma, the man behind the GoFundMe project.

He has been taken off the ventilator, but abhishek continued, "He still has brain swelling from the various procedures he had in the last week. According to the page, Sharma had four brain surgeries within ten days of the accident, was in the intensive care unit, hooked up to IVs, and was on life support. Sharma's parents are nervously awaiting the approval of their US visa at home in India. "We sincerely hope and pray that Vinamra will soon be able to start his arduous path to recovery. His current medical care is geared on helping him survive. If he survives, his medical care will concentrate on resolving his mobility and cognitive issues."

Sharma does not have motor insurance, and his health insurance does not cover accident-related costs (he does not drive). ICU services, medical exams, consultations with doctors, surgeons, and specialists, as well as other hospital costs, are among his current in-hospital expenses. The crowdfunding campaign has so far earned roughly $72,199, which will be given to the student's family directly.
