The karnataka assembly election vote counting started at 8 am, and the bharatiya janata party (BJP) grabbed an early lead over congress that includes postal ballots as well. Early tendencies were quickly reclaimed by congress from BJP. Meanwhile, the Janata Dal (Secular) said that it is "not in demand". The vital karnataka assembly election of 2023 is currently being counted, with the bjp confident in establishing the accuracy of the exit poll figures and the congress aiming to surpass projections and win a solid majority.

JD(S) appears to be prepared to assume the position of kingmaker. In 36 locations around the state, vote counting started at 8 am under heavy security. In Bengaluru, the capital of karnataka, where traffic restrictions have also been implemented on the counting day, Section 144 of the criminal Procedure Code has been applied.  The whole district will be subject to Section 144 from 6 a.m. on saturday until 12 a.m. on Sunday. According to reports, the Bengaluru police commissionerate region has also outlawed the selling of alcohol.

While the official results won't be available until late in the day, it will be obvious by mid-day whether the winner will be the bjp, congress, or JD(S). On Wednesday, May 10, when the state voted in 224 assembly constituencies in a single-phased assembly election, the electoral fortunes of top leaders and key candidates such as — chief minister Basavaraj Bommai of the bjp, congress heavyweights Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar, JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, and many others — were sealed. In the state with 224 assembly constituencies, 113 is the magic number, or the majority mark, that the parties are attempting to surpass.
