The indian National League (INL), a constituent party of the ruling CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) held a meeting today. This has been a complete breach of the Covid-19 protocols.

In contravention of Covid regulations, INL leadership met in kochi on the day of total lockdown. The meeting is attended by minister Ahmed Devarkovil. The meeting is also attended by party workers in addition to the leaders. Under the Covid Prohibition Act, police said they will file a complaint against the hotel where the gathering was held. The INL is on the point of fracturing, therefore the leadership meeting is timely. A number of activists have raised reservations about attending the conference.

The campaign of two sections of the party, led by the state president and secretary, is still going on. Secretary Qasim Irikur and minister Ahmed Devarkov have been accused of hijacking the party by President Abdul Wahab. The recruitment of the minister's personal staff, it is said, was not addressed in the party.

The meeting lead to a fight and had to be controlled by the police. There have been strict regulations on the weekend lockdown. Currently, the State is already on a rampage amid spike in the daily covid-19 cases.
