Can drinking water also cause high blood pressure?
To keep the body healthy, everyone is advised to drink enough water daily. By drinking water, the body gets enough energy to function while avoiding dehydration. Doctors tell that due to a lack of water in the body, many problems can occur. Due to this, it is quite common to have problems like headache, fatigue, and dizziness. But are there only benefits of water or can it also have some side effects? It may sound strange to hear the side-effects of water, but in a recent study, researchers have told about one such big problem.

In general, people are advised to drink water when blood pressure increases but do you know that water can also cause hypertension i.e. high blood pressure. In a study published in the Hypertension Journal, scientists have reported that water can cause hypertension in certain situations. Certain chemicals have been found in water, which increases the risk of high blood pressure. Let's know about this.
Researchers from the university of Michigan in the united states said that as the amount of man-made chemicals is increasing, so are they contaminating food, water, and air. Chemicals such as poly fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and perfluoroalkyl that are not easily broken down can increase the risk of high blood pressure in middle-aged women.

Experts say that keeping this danger in mind, all people need to show special vigilance about clean water and air.

Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are mainly found in cosmetics, personal care products such as shampoos, shaving cream, non-stick utensils, and household items such as cooking essentials. Experts from the National Institutes of health say that these substances can be present in the environment with water for a long time. In such a situation, the consumption of unclean water can increase many problems including hypertension in you.

For this study, university scientists analyzed data from more than 1000 women aged 45-56. His health was monitored by scientists for almost 20 years. All participants had normal blood pressure at the start of the study. However, at the end of the study in 2017, 470 of these women were found to have high BP. Researchers found that women who had higher levels of PFAS in their blood had a 71 percent higher risk of high blood pressure.
The health risks caused by PFAS have been discussed for years, says study senior author Sung Kyun Park, an assistant professor of epidemiology and environmental science at the university of Michigan. In view of the danger, some countries have also announced a ban on the use of PFAS in food packaging and cosmetics products.

Our findings demonstrate that limiting the use of PFAS in generic products can substantially reduce the increasing worldwide risk of hypertension.
