DOLO-650: The allegation of changing the composition of the drug, which surrounded the drug manufacturer, did your health also make a difference?
Pharma experts believe that most of the companies making paracetamol have not been able to supply the drug amid increasing demand in the era of Corona. Whereas Dolo-650 remained available everywhere and gifts worth Rs 1,000 crore were given to doctors to fix its prescription.
During the first and second waves of the coronavirus pandemic in india, people were seen waiting in long lines to buy medicines. Despite the fear of spreading the infection, the one medicine that was competing among the crowd was the tablet of Dolo-650 mg. In india, this drug had become synonymous with the treatment of coronavirus. The popularity of Dolo was such that even on social media, memes were made about this drug. Micro Labs, the maker of Dolo, also benefited tremendously from its sale.

However, when the investigative agencies were reactivated in early 2022 after the cessation of the Corona waves, the company making Dolo also got involved in cases of tax evasion. And now the Federation of Medical and Sales Representatives Association of india (FMRAI) has alleged that Microlabs distributed gifts worth over Rs 1,000 crore to doctors so that they advise patients to take Dolo-650 mg medicine.
Supreme court Justice DY Chandrachud himself, who was hearing the case, was also shocked by these allegations against the manufacturer of Dolo. Justice Chandrachud said that he has also taken this medicine.

Dolo 650mg is a combination of different medicines. Simply put, this is a dosage of 650 mg of Paracetamol itself. It is an antipyretic and analgesic. Simply put, this medicine works to relieve pain and fever. It is an over-the-counter (OTC) drug, which can be bought from the store without a prescription. However, most brands of paracetamol sold in india are sold with a 500 mg salt formula.
Meanwhile, a question is also arising about whether taking a tablet of high dosage of Paracetamol can make any difference to the common man. On this, doctors say that the dosage of two grams of paracetamol per day is valid for an adult. That is, eating 2-3 dolo every day during fever will not do much harm. But there is a risk of liver damage due to excessive use of paracetamol. Dolo-650 is also advised not to be taken by liver diseases, kidney diseases, and frequent drinkers.
