Infosys too has fired employees for moonlighting...
Like wipro, Infosys has also fired employees for moonlighting in recent months. CEO Salil Parekh said on Thursday, "Wherever we have found employees working in two different companies, we have let them go over the last 12 months on the issue of confidentiality."
Wipro Chairman rishabh Premji had said a few weeks ago that the company has fired 300 employees for moonlighting. However, Infosys is planning to introduce a policy to allow employees to work outside. Parekh said Infosys has set up a platform called Accelerate where employees can view internal gig work and external projects. Infosys had said that Accelerate and Infosys GigMarketplace enable managers to list short-duration gig work. Internal talent across the organization can be picked up by executing these jobs. Parekh said, we fully comply with contractual confidentiality commitments. We are developing more comprehensive policies ensuring respect. However, we do not support double employment."
What is Moonlighting?
When an employee, while being in his current company, provides services in any other company or even more companies, then it is called moonlighting. However, companies do not allow this to their employees. The problem of moonlighting is increasing continuously. Recently after wipro, now Infosys has shown the way out of some employees.
