The white house announced on monday that US President Joe Biden will visit israel on wednesday to show his support for the country in the wake of the Hamas attack. Biden will also visit jordan for a summit meeting with the presidents of the Palestinian Authority, jordan, and Egypt. white house press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced in a statement on monday night that "President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. will travel to israel on wednesday, october 18 to demonstrate his steadfast support for israel in the face of Hamas's brutal terrorist attack and to consult on next steps."

After that, Biden will go to Amman, jordan, to meet with President Mahmoud abbas of the Palestinian Authority, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, and His Majesty king Abdullah of Jordan. Jean-Pierre stated, "He will address the humanitarian needs of civilians in Gaza and reiterate that Hamas does not stand for the Palestinian people's right to dignity and self-determination."

The US president discussed the regional situation following the Hamas terrorist attack in israel during a phone conversation earlier in the day with prime minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani of iraq and his Egyptian counterpart, El-Sisi. During the call, Biden and El-Sisi talked about the necessity of maintaining stability in the Middle east more generally as well as ongoing efforts to alleviate the deteriorating humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, in conjunction with the UN, jordan, the Palestinian Authority, israel, and other regional allies.

According to a press statement, the Secretary reaffirmed the US commitment to keep upping security support and averting conflict escalation.

It stated that Austin underlined civilian safety and expressed gratitude to the Gallant for their efforts to restore access to clean drinking water in Gaza.
