Kerala blasts: Man surrenders, takes responsibility for blasts...


A man known only as Dominic Martin turned himself up to the authorities on october 29, hours after several explosives shook a convention centre in Kalamassery, Kerala. Martin claimed responsibility for the deadly bombs. The accused claims to be a member of the "same sabha" that arranged the Jehovah's Witnesses prayer meeting at the Zamra international Convention and Exhibition Centre, according to the state police, who revealed the basic information. During the prayer meeting, there were explosions that resulted in one fatality and at least 36 injuries.


Martin's accusation was being looked into, according to the police, who were also looking into every other aspect of the explosions. "Someone who claims to have done it has stepped up at the Kodakra police station in the remote thrissur district. Identifying himself as Dominic Martin, he claims to have belonged to the same sabha. Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan described the occurrence as "very unfortunate" and promised a thorough inquiry in a statement released earlier in the day. "We are gathering information about the occurrence. At ernakulam are all of the senior authorities. We are giving it our full attention. I've had a conversation with the director General of Police. After the investigation, we need additional information," Vijayan stated.

Following the explosions, Union home minister amit shah also conferred with the chief minister and assessed the situation, according to sources cited by the news agency. The report further stated that the MHA has instructed the National Security Guard and the National Investigation Agency, two anti-terror investigative organizations, to support the state government in its investigation.
