The World Hindu congress repudiated the term hinduism on Friday, claiming that it was restrictive and discriminatory, and instead adopted the terms Hindutva and Hindu dharma to refer to the "eternal" faith. The third World Hindu congress (WHC) approved a resolution here claiming that the term Hindutva is more appropriate since it encompasses all that the word 'Hindu' implies.

"The first word in the phrase "Hindu Dharma" is an unbounded word. It represents anything Sanatan or eternal. Then there's Dharma, which means "That which sustains," according to the proclamation issued at the end of the WHC's first day of discussions. According to the article, hinduism is distinct because it is prefixed with a "ism," which is defined as an oppressive and discriminating attitude or belief.

"It is for such reasons that many of our elders preferred the term "Hindutva” over hinduism as the former is a more accurate term since it includes the gamut (spectrum) of all that the word “Hindu” implies. "We agree with them and should follow suit," said the proclamation.

The declaration's allegation came after a controversy sparked by DMK leaders' inflammatory remarks against Sanatan dharma at a symposium titled 'Abolition of Sanatana'.

According to the proclamation, Hindutva is a simple term that means "Hindu-ness."

"Others have adopted the alternative term "Sanatan Dharma," which is sometimes shortened as "Sanatan." "Here, the term "Sanatan" functions as an adjective indicating the eternal nature of Hindu Dharma," it noted.

Out of ignorance, many academics and intellectuals depict Hindutva as the opposite of Hindu Dharma, according to the proclamation.

"However, because of their visceral hatred and biases against Hindu Dharma, the majority are anti-Hindutva." Many politicians, motivated by political ambitions and personal prejudices, have also joined that group, criticising Sanatan Dharma, or Sanatan, with growing frequency and venom," it continued.

The World Hindu Council denounced such attacks and asked Hindus worldwide to get together to defeat those who engage in such intolerance and emerge triumphant.

Earlier, in his presentation to the WHC's opening session, RSS president Mohan Bhagwat stated that india will teach the world the route to pleasure and contentment, which has been floundering from experiments with materialism, communism, and capitalism.

He urged Hindus all across the world to reach out to one another and connect with the rest of the world.

"We must reach out and connect with every Hindu." And Hindus will connect everyone throughout the planet. "As Hindus become more connected, the process of connecting with the rest of the world has begun," Bhagwat remarked at a meeting of global intellectuals, activists, leaders, and entrepreneurs.
