In a conversation with bill gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, prime minister Narendra Modi discussed the risks of artificial intelligence (AI) and warned him that if individuals are not properly trained, they may misuse the technology. Additionally, he claimed that "grave injustice" would result from the employment of AI as a magical instrument. In an informal chat, prime minister Modi mentioned that he proposed adding a watermark to AI-generated content to help fight the problem of deepfakes.

"AI has the potential to be abused if someone is given it without the necessary training. To ensure that no one is misled, I propose that we begin with watermarks that are obvious on content produced by AI. "Anyone can use deepfake in a democracy like India," he informed Bill Gates.

Recognising that deepfake content is produced by AI is essential. We should consider a few dos and don'ts," the prime minister declared.

The comments made by PM Modi coincide with the emergence of several deepfake images and films featuring athletes, celebrities, and other well-known figures, raising questions about the improper use of AI.

PM Modi encouraged the use of ChatGPT and other AI technologies to increase human productivity during the chat, but he cautioned that those who use technology "lazily" are making the wrong decision.

"If artificial intelligence is used as a magic instrument, it might result in serious injustice. It is not the right course of action to rely on AI out of laziness. He declared, "I should compete against ChatGPT in an effort to outshine and outlast AI.

While acknowledging the benefits of AI, bill gates noted that there are a "few challenges" that must be overcome in addition to the "huge opportunity" that it presents.

In AI, these are still early days. It will do difficult tasks before failing at something you would have thought was simple. Though there are certain obstacles associated with AI, it appears to be a very promising field," he stated.
