Major foreign airlines, including air france and Lufthansa, are avoiding Pakistani airspace as tensions between india and pakistan remain high after a deadly terrorist assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, according to airlines and flight trackers on Monday.

In a statement to Reuters, Germany's Lufthansa Group stated that it is "avoiding Pakistani airspace until further notice" and that it is keeping an eye on events. According to data from the flight tracking website Flightradar24, Lufthansa Flight LH760 from Frankfurt to New delhi had to take a longer path on Sunday, resulting in a nearly one-hour flight extension.

What's the status of other international airlines?
Air france agreed, stating that it had decided to halt flights over pakistan due to the "recent evolution of tensions" between the two South Asian foes.

"The airline has decided to suspend overflight of pakistan until further notice," air france said in a statement, referring to the "recent evolution of tensions" between india and Pakistan.

With longer travel times and operational delays, the airline is already changing its flight itineraries to destinations like delhi, Bangkok, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Following their passage across the Arabian Sea, certain british Airways, swiss international air Lines, and Emirates flights were observed diverting north towards delhi to avoid Pakistani airspace, according to flight tracking data.

Emirates and british Airways have not yet released official remarks, but their redirected flights are indicative of a more cautious approach from the industry as a whole.

Longer flight durations on some routes to Asia, higher fuel prices, and a sharp decline in Pakistan's overflight fee revenue are all consequences of the shift.

Following retaliatory actions between New delhi and india, the airspace detours come after militants suspected of having ties to pakistan opened fire on defenseless tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, killing 26 people, the majority of whom were civilians.
