President donald trump of the united states wants the situation between india and pakistan to de-escalate "as quickly as possible," the white house announced Friday. Karoline Leavitt, the press secretary for the white house, made the comments as tensions between india and pakistan increased during India's 'Operation Sindoor' raids on nine terror facilities in pakistan and Pakistan-occupied kashmir (PoK) early on Wednesday.
The attacks were a response to the pahalgam massacre on april 22, which killed 26 people, primarily tourists.
"The president has stated that he hopes this situation can be defused as soon as possible. "He recognizes that these two nations have been at odds for many years, even before President trump was in the white house," Leavitt stated.
"This is something that the Secretary of State and, of course, now our national security advisor as well, Marco Rubio, has been very much involved in," she stated.
