Despite their typically benign nature, lizards are unwanted guests in many houses. Their unexpected arrivals and droppings can be unsanitary and disturbing. Thankfully, there are a number of simple, all-natural ways to keep lizards out of your house without using chemicals or traps.

1. Maintain a clean and clutter-free home.

Lizards are naturally repelled by a clean home.  Insects, which lizards consume, find perfect cover and prey among food scraps, standing water, and heaps of abandoned objects.

Neha Gupta, a housewife from Delhi, stated, "Once we started regular cleaning and sealed cracks near the kitchen window, we noticed fewer lizards."

2. USE onion AND garlic

The pungent scent of onions and garlic repels lizards.

How to utilize

Put pieces of onion or garlic in corners, next to windows, or beneath sinks.

As an alternative, mist walls with a solution of water and garlic juice.

3. USE PEPPER WATER SPRAY

Lizards are irritated by black pepper's sharpness.

Fix

Add one cup of water and two tablespoons of crushed pepper.

Apply the mixture to dark corners, under furniture, and in hallways.

4. HANG egg SHELLS USED

Lizards are frightened off by the stench of used egg shells, which alerts predators to their presence.

How to utilize

Put dry, empty egg shells next to doors and windows.

Every three to four days, replace them.

5. DISABLE EXCESS LIGHTS

Insects are drawn to bright lights, while lizards are drawn to insects.

Advice

Turn off the lights outside when not in use.
Because yellow lights are less appealing to insects, use them indoors.

6. REPAIR LEAKS AND SEAL POINTS OF ENTRY

Leaks of water draw insects and provide lizards with a place to dwell.

Actions to take

Fix leaks in pipes.

Use caulk or mesh to seal minor holes, cracks, and ventilation gaps.

 7. USE TOBACCO MIX AND NAPHTHALENE BALLS

Lizards stay away from harsh chemical odors.

How to utilize

Naphthalene balls should be placed in corners, beneath sinks, and inside cabinets.

Tobacco and coffee powder can also be combined, put in little balls, and left in areas where lizards may be found (keep away from pets and children).

There are no harsh chemicals or exterminators needed to get rid of lizards at home. When used regularly, basic household things like eggshells, pepper, and garlic perform well.  To further ensure that lizards don't return, preventive measures like caulking cracks and keeping the area clean are essential.
