This is the most costly movie ever produced in movie history. It will be seen as a failure even if it outperformed "Jurassic Park" and "Lord of the Rings." The forthcoming crossover event movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), "Avengers: Doomsday," is expected to cost $1 billion.

The star-studded cast and visual effects will cost this enormous sum of money.  According to reports, the cast's salary alone might total more than $250 million. According to reports, Marvel has already spent $8 million on pre-production.  At $388 million, it is more than three times the amount spent on "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), the most costly hollywood production to date, cost $447 million to make.  The second most costly movie was Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), which had a $350–$460 million budget.  Captains of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) follows.  About $379 million was spent on its production.

According to forbes magazine, "Avengers: Doomsday" has twice the weekly production costs of "Quantumania."  According to experts, Marvel Studios may have to pay between $500 and 600 million for the movie.  The production cost of "Star Wars episode IX," which now holds the record at $447 million, is significantly lower than this.  How much Marvel Studios will ultimately spend on this enormous movie project is still unknown, though.
