Despite enjoying Bengaluru's atmosphere, climate, and people, a couple who lived there for two years has finally decided to leave. Aswin and aparna blamed their move on Bengaluru's declining air quality, claiming that it had negatively impacted their health. The pair explained their reasons for leaving Bengaluru in more detail in an instagram post two days ago.

"Bangalore is slowly killing us."
Both aparna and Aswin identified themselves as 27-year-olds "working in corporate." They have spent the previous two years living in Bengaluru and own their own company.

"You might hate us, but Bangalore is slowly killing us" was the opening line in a video in which the couple discussed their desire to leave India's Silicon Valley.

The duo clarified that they adore Bangalore because of its people, atmosphere, and climate. Over time, though, they became aware of how often they were getting sick.

"We began to feel ill.  I started having allergies and breathing problems," Aswin stated.  "And I, who doesn't even catch a cold, am always coughing and sneezing," said Aparna.

By eating well and working out every day, the pair attempted to change their way of life. They eventually concluded that the main source of their issues was Bengaluru's poor air quality.

Bengaluru's air quality problem
"People say Bangalore has fresh air and great weather, but does it really?"  In the video, aparna was asked.  Bengaluru was classified as "very unhealthy"—just short of "hazardous"—when the pair tested the AQI in february and was astonished to learn that it was 297.

The pair chose to leave Bengaluru for healthier, greener places after being horrified by the quality of the air.

"Namma Bengaluru is just remarkable.  It's the ideal place to be, even when starting a business, but we had to decide quickly.  We left Bangalore before the city could engulf us," they explained.

"Our job and our friends are here, but we have to put our health first," they stated.

Internet reacts
With almost a million views on instagram, their video has gone viral. However, the pair encounters anti-immigrant sentiment in the comments area.

"Please leave, Bangalore was just fine before people started moving here for work and overcrowding the city," a person commented.

"Everyone, leave Bengaluru. ... that those who are currently residing here might live in harmony and breathe clean air again," someone another said.  "As a Bangalorean, y'all in the comments section gotta stop taking this so personally, and instead try to make our city safer for everyone," another said.
