Gujarat ATS Foils ISI-Linked Terror Plot
Arrest of Gurpreet Singh
The gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested Gurpreet Singh, also known as Gopi Billa, from Halol city in Panchmahal district.
He was wanted by the punjab Police for involvement in arms smuggling and terror-related activities.
Punjab police had provided crucial intelligence to the gujarat ATS, enabling the arrest.
Background of the Case
Several cases were recently registered in Gurdaspur district, punjab, linked to grenade attacks and support to a Pakistan-based terror network.
These attacks were reportedly part of a larger strategy to create fear and destabilize the region.
Key Findings from Preliminary Investigation

The investigation revealed that the main planners, identified as manu Agwan and Maninder Billa, are currently residing in Malaysia.
Both individuals were allegedly working under the guidance of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI.
Their objective:
Recruit individuals for terror activities.
Plan and execute grenade attacks in crowded public areas in punjab and potentially other states.
Strengthen the operational capabilities of the ISI-backed network in India.
Information Obtained During Interrogations
The punjab police had recently arrested two accused connected to the same network.
During their interrogation, officials learned about Gurpreet Singh’s involvement in the plot.
He was found to have played a role in smuggling two grenades and two pistols into punjab, meant for the planned attacks.
Arrest Operation and Confession
Upon receiving the tip-off, a gujarat ATS team reached Halol and discovered that Gurpreet Singh was working as a laborer in a factory.
He was tracked down at a local hotel, detained, and taken for interrogation.
During questioning, Gurpreet Singh confessed to his role in the grenade attack conspiracy.
He will now be handed over to the punjab police for further investigation and legal action.
