While countries like poland and hungary have welcomed Ukrainian nationals leaving ukraine, on the other hand, some indian nationals trying to leave ukraine have reported facing difficulties at the poland border. An indian volunteer in poland said on sunday that some indian nationals trying to reach poland from ukraine are stuck at the border leading to Medyka and are unable to enter Poland.
The indian Embassy in Kyiv said that indian citizens are being repatriated from ukraine via romania and hungary, but some unknown citizens have reached the border with poland and are trapped there.
The volunteer, Ruchir Kataria, told The Associated press that indians wishing to cross the Medyka were told in broken English, "Go to Romania." Kataria, however, said they had already reached the border on foot. They have traveled a long way and have no way to reach the Romanian border hundreds of kilometers away.
According to reports, some other indian nationals, who managed to enter poland, are not being given a place to stay in shelters set up by Polish authorities and charities. indian citizens are being told that this facility is reserved for Ukrainian citizens.
