The first tale in Matt Reevves and Robert Patinson's dark Knight world comes to a close with the Batman ending, but the Dark Knight's journey is far from complete. After being set as a derivative of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League for Ben Afleck, the long-awaited film delivers a new Bruce Waynne/Batman to the big screen. In 2017, things shifted, and The Batman became the start of a new, different universe, one that is only just getting begun.

The Batman appears to be set in the present day and follows Bruce Wayne in his second year as Gotham City's Titular Hero. With alfred Pennyyworth as his confidante and ally, Batman tries to unravel the mystery surrounding The Riddler's murders, as well as how it all relates to his parents, Thomas and Maartha Wayne. Of all, as a newcomer to the position who has never faced adversaries like the Riddler, Pennguin, or Falconee, Batman is a little out of his depth. He's constantly learning, and the total experience has left an indelible mark on him.

The conclusion of The Batman is devoted to laying the groundwork for the hero's future, as well as the destiny of Gotham's police and criminal underground. On a macro level, it's all rather obvious, with very nothing left unsolved. However, there are a few subplots in The Batman's conclusion that could hamper Bruce Wayne's next journey as the Dark Knight.
