The Antares Paradox, a Spanish movie (La Paradoja de Antares) written and directed by Luis Tinoco, looks for extraterrestrial life while comparing the value of being with loved ones versus the likelihood of first contact. The aliens themselves are less of a focus in the movie than how the protagonist, who has been seeking for new life for such a long time, will be affected by their possible discovery. In its slick 97 minutes, The Antares Paradox is powerful, well-made, tackles intriguing subjects, and is strengthened by an outstanding centre performance by Andrea Trepat.

Space has always piqued Alexandra Baeza's (Andrea Trepat) curiosity, and she has a burning desire to find extraterrestrial life. The scientist has devoted her entire professional life to it. The search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, or SETI, is a research institution that keeps an eye out for extraterrestrial life. When the movie opens, alex has just returned there and is settling in for the night. Her coworker has just told her that he is resigning before being fired since SETI's funding is being cut while a storm is raging outside.

Alex has been too preoccupied with her career to visit their ailing father, so her sister (Aleida Torrent) is pleading with her to visit him in the hospital. alex is shocked when she receives a signal from the Antares binary system since she assumes the rest of the night would be ordinary. alex must confirm the signal is not a fluke, risking everything to do so, with only an hour remaining before everything is shut down.

The Antares Paradox explores the question of what is worthy of one's time over the course of a lifetime rather than existentialism; the possibility of extraterrestrial life is more of a point of conflict than a guarantee that viewers will see aliens. alex devotes herself to her work and ignores other areas of her life that would bring her fulfilment since she is so dedicated to finding extraterrestrial life. alex must decide what is genuinely essential as her father lies dying and must decide whether to see her father one last time or stay to reaffirm life from thousands of light years away. The public may observe Alex's internal conflict and shame because it is the source of his pain.
