The history of the Kapoor family in hindi cinema is quite old. The Kapoor clan has dominated the journey from black and white to the color screen. The first superstar of the Kapoor family was prithviraj Cooper, who was known as 'Papa Ji' in the film industry. Born on november 3, 1906, in Lyallpur (present-day Faisalabad Pakistan) of West Punjab, on the occasion of the birthday of prithviraj Kapoor, today we are going to tell you some things related to his life.

Prithviraj Kapoor was fond of acting since childhood and made his acting debut in theaters in Lyallpur and Peshawar. In 1928, prithviraj Kapoor came to Mumbai, the city of dreams, with financial help from his aunt. After this, he joined the Imperial Company in 1928 and two years later, in 1930, acted in bp Mishra's 'Cinema Girl'.


Simultaneously he joined the theater and also acted in the play Shakespeare by Anderson's theater company. After struggling for two years, in 1931, he got a chance to work as a supporting actor in the first spoken film 'Alam Ara'. After the success of Devaki Bose's 'Sita' in 1934, prithviraj Kapoor became successful in making his mark. prithviraj Kapoor started getting success after working in films, but his first love was theater. Due to this attachment, he founded the Prithvi theater in 1944. The group traveled the country to perform art, consisting of around 150 people, including artists, workers, cooks, writers, and technicians.

At the same time, it also became a witness to many historical occasions of the country. During the Quit india Movement of mahatma gandhi, several plays were staged in the Prithvi theater to inspire the youth to join the freedom movement. When Prithviraj's powerful voice resonated in the theatre, the audience was also mesmerized. This theater has also given many great actors to the industry. It is said that after the end of the three-hour show in the theater, prithviraj used to stand at the gate with a bag, so that the people coming after watching the show put some money in it.


With this money, he used to help the employees working in prithviraj Theatre. For this, he created a worker fund. prithviraj Kapoor died on 29 May 1972, after which his son shashi kapoor and his wife Jennifer Kendal established the Prithvi theater Trust in 1978.

In the year 1972, prithviraj Kapoor was posthumously awarded the dadasaheb phalke Award by the government of india for his significant contribution to hindi cinema and theatre. Apart from this, prithviraj Kapoor was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award by the Sangeet Natak Akademi in 1954 and 1956 and the Padma bhushan by the government of india in 1969.  Prithviraj Kapoor acted in many films in his career, including 'Anand Math', 'Sikander', 'Chhatrapati Shivaji', and one of the most successful films of hindi cinema, 'Mughal-e-Azam'. prithviraj Kapoor won the hearts of people by playing the role of Akbar in 'Mughal-e-Azam'.
