IT expert Rudhra (Bobby Simha) is in charge of a challenging project. At work, he accepts a task that requires him to work continuously. Without adequate rest and sleep, Rudhra experiences health problems and blackouts. Both the doctor and his lover Nila (Kashmira Pardeshi) advise him to take things easy and focus on his health.

Nila advises that they take a trip to a hill station so that Rudhra can rest. When they visit Vasantha Mullai, a remote house, they find themselves in a precarious predicament. It is made harder by Nila's wheezing and Rudhra's health issues. Additionally, a killer is still at large. Will Rudhra and Nila survive the ordeal?  A prime illustration of how great ideas don't always make for great movies is Vasantha Mullai.

With Vasantha Mullai, director Ramanan Purushothaman has created an intriguing plot. Despite the fact that the concept has been used in other hollywood movies, the director has a lot of room to turn it into a thrilling tale with a regional flavour. Vasantha Mullai is a thriller that also features a time loop idea. The intriguing concepts, however, are wasted by an unimpressive second half and pointless turns.
