The kerala Story encountered controversy even before it was released. It is frequently a good thing because controversies aid in a new movie's advertising by piquing viewers' attention. But in this case, there was a dispute about an alleged untruth. According to the kerala Story's creators, 32000 ladies converted to Islam. But as soon as the number caused a stir, they vowed to alter it and stop using it on social media.

First of all, the truth can be distorted and is not always true. In many different areas of life, we all take a lot of creative liberties. However, when people make up lies about reality to advance their own goals, that is what turns them into radicals. It absolutely resembles what the fanatics in the movie do. Sadly, this is what the movie's creators have fallen for as well. The kerala Story smells like propaganda, which kills the film's artistic integrity and makes it boring to watch.

The kerala Story affirms that the way it portrays terrorists from isis and other violent groups is not representative of all Muslims. But that doesn't happen until almost the very end of the movie. Otherwise, it seems incongruous that three non-hijab wearing girls are being assaulted while the remainder of the student body does nothing but watch and not intervene, despite the college's slogans being contrary to what the institution supports. It appears that the film's creators, director Sudipto Sen and creative director Vipul Amrutlal Shah, have trouble organizing their ideas.

What are they trying to say, that the brainwashing fanatics are highly talented, that if you subscribe to Western ideals like Communism (which is commonly practised in Kerala), you would be a soft target, or that if you are a devout follower of your religion, you can avoid being brainwashed? Or that girls who practise religions with multiple gods are more vulnerable? One faith is expressly favoured in The kerala Story over another, and this is where the movie's flaw resides. It is true that it does not intend to disparage islam as a whole, but it aims to incite the Hindus and make fun at the feelings that they find most upsetting. The movie has acted recklessly.
