Tholi prema is one of the biggest hits in the career of pawan Kalyan. It is a milestone movie for him. It was the movie that made pawan very close to his fans. It was the movie that made pawan kalyan Power Star of Tollywood. The movie released into theaters on 24 July 1998. The movie ran for 100 days in 21 centers, 200 days in 3 centers, 217 days in Hyderabad's sandhya 70mm theater,  224 days in guntur Liberty theater, and 300 days in Warangal's Rama-Lakshmana theater.
 
The movie itself is a surprise package and has many surprises in it. The heroine introduction scene in the movie is an evergreen epic scene and no other director was able to beat it till date. Also, you won’t hear the female voice in any of the songs in the movie.
 
The another highlight of this movie is the taj mahal set that was designed on the banks of the sea.  It was said that pawan kalyan sponsored money for the set from his remuneration.  Also, the bike that pawan used in the movie- rx 100 became quite popular after the movie release. youth  were obsessed with the bike.

The movie broke many records and took home many awards in various categories.  It won a national award and half dozen Nandi awards.
