Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' tamil Film which was also eligible for The Oscars 2021 has bagged the third spot on IMDB's list of Top-Rated 1000 Films. The movie is just behind 'The Shawshank Redemption' and 'The Godfather' in the list. The movie has an IMDb rating of 9.1. On the other hand, The Godfather which is in second place has a score of 9.2 and The Shawshank Redemption ranks top with a score of 9.3 on the website. 


Also, this is the only indian movie that was eligible for Best Picture nominations for Oscars 2021. The list included 366 films that had popular and acclaimed movies like Nomadland, Mank, Trial of the Chicago 7 among others. 'Soorarai Ppttru' was also in the top-10 list of indian films screened at 78th Golden Globe Awards under the Best Foreign Film category. 


It has also been selected for the Panorama Section of the shanghai international Film festival and it will take place next month between 12th to 15th. The movie is a biopic of Captain GR Gopinath who founded the low-cost Airline air Deccan. The movie failed to get a theatrical release and it got released directly on amazon Prime Video on november 12, 2020. The movie
