professor X's Logan dementia may be caused by doctor Strange 2's multiverse events, according to a new fan hypothesis. doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is slated for a domestic release on May 6th, 2022, and continues the multiverse-centric events begun in Spider-Man: No Way Home, with stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) feverishly striving to correct his magical blunders. As a result, doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to feature multiverse variants of a slew of Marvel characters, with Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier the most recent to be revealed.

Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as X-Men leader Charles Xavier in doctor Strange 2, though the extent of his involvement in the MCU film is unknown. "We should tell him the truth," a bald man says from behind in the doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer as Strange is brought before the MCU's Illuminati to answer for his crimes against reality. Stewart's voice is undeniably his, and he appears to have significantly more of his critical faculties than when Xavier's character was last seen in Logan in 2017.

One doctor Strange 2 idea (through Reddit user BRispin) posits that Charles Xavier would sacrifice his sanity via Cerebro in order to fix Strange's multiverse troubles, resulting in his becoming the reduced version of Charles Xavier seen in Logan. With the events between X-Men: Days of Future Past and Logan mostly shrouded in mystery, this would undoubtedly serve as a link to the film that concludes Xavier's saga. As a result, here's how the professor X theory in doctor Strange 2 links into Charles Xavier's other canon movie appearances.
