Ranveer Singh had proposed to deepika in maldives, said - 'His mother had said - who is this boy?'
Recently, actor ranveer singh talked about his proposal story in 'Koffee with karan 8'. Bollywood couple ranveer singh and deepika padukone are currently in the headlines due to their appearance in the eighth season of filmmaker karan Johar's talk show 'Koffee with Karan'. During the show, he also made many interesting revelations related to his marriage. ranveer singh said that he had proposed to deepika padukone for marriage right after the release of the film 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela', to which she had also said 'yes'.
Ranveer Singh told his proposal story in 'KWK 8'
Ranveer told in the first episode of 'Koffee with karan 8' that within six months of dating, he knew that deepika was perfect for him. He says, “So ‘Ram-Leela’ happened and we were in this (dating period). At one point, when it felt right, I decided he was the one (she was perfect for him).”
While talking to karan johar, Ranveer further said, "So I thought that before anything happens, I should give her a ring." I was in collusion with my sister and mother to get the ring. We (she and Deepika) were going on holiday and I decided that I would propose to her on the holiday. I got the ring and my people were like, 'Are you going to propose? You don't want to consult their parents?' At that time I did not have that degree or maturity. I said, 'No, I'm marrying her so I'll ask her.' So we go to maldives and I secretly take the ring with me and we do this daring thing on the sand.
After this Ranveer told how a boat took them to the middle of the sea and there was only a small piece of sand in the middle of the sea. In his words, “It was just her (Deepika) and me in the middle of the ocean. I said, 'This is the perfect scenario.'"
He further said, “The boat released us and let us go. Now it's just her and I on the island and I asked her the question, and gave her the ring, she wasn't expecting it and she got emotional. And that was it, she said yes and I felt like the king of the world and then we got engaged."
The tales of their love story do not end here. In his conversation, Ranveer further revealed that after coming back from the holidays, he and deepika went straight to Bengaluru to break the news to the actress's family, but unfortunately, Deepika's mother Ujjala Padukone did not approve of their relationship.
Recalling that moment, Ranveer said, "I was sitting on the table with my hands and mouth closed, and suddenly from nowhere deepika said, 'He proposed marriage to me and I said yes.' And there was pin-drop silence. Deepika's mother Ujjala's face has become completely cold. Everyone wanted it to be a happy, memorable moment, but I could understand the underlying emotions. It's all been done - hugging and celebrating. I went to a room in his house in Bengaluru. And I put my ear to the door and Amma and deepika were talking outside.
Recalling the conversation between deepika and her mother, Ranveer said, "She was saying, 'Who is this boy?' He proposed marriage and you also said yes? This whole drama was going on outside and I said, 'God save us!' Then obviously it took me many years and a lot of hard work to make a place in Amma's heart, but now I feel it has been done and I am one of her favorite people."
Let us tell you that deepika and Ranveer had a beach wedding in Lake Como italy in 2018. The couple has worked together in many films including 'Ram-Leela', 'Bajirao Mastani', 'Padmavat' and '83'. The on-screen and off-screen chemistry of both is much liked.
