On friday, the NCW issued summons to the show's host and actor Ejaz Khan as well as Ullu app CEO Vibhu Agarwal. The allegations of forcing women to do obscene acts in the show not only created a ruckus on social media but also echoed in political corridors. The NCW has ordered me to appear on May 9 in this matter.
A video clip of 'House Arrest' went viral on social media, which allegedly showed women participating in intimate tasks and objectionable challenges. people got angry after watching this clip and termed the show as spreading obscenity. NCW said in its post, 'Suo motu cognizance has been taken on the complaint of obscene content in Ullu app's show 'House Arrest'. In the viral video, women are being forcibly incited to do obscene acts. This platform is promoting obscenity and violating consent.'
The anger against the show was not limited to social media only. shiv sena (UBT) mp Priyanka Chaturvedi raised the issue before the Parliamentary Standing Committee and demanded strict action. At the same time, bjp yuva Morcha's bihar in-charge Barun Raj Singh appealed to Union Information and Broadcasting minister Ashwini Vaishnav to intervene in the matter. Users on social media also strongly criticized the show and the Ullu app. According to PTI, the Ullu app removed all the episodes of the show from its website and app due to increasing pressure.
