'Thug Life' is the film that reunites mani ratnam and Ulaga Nayagan kamal haasan after 38 years. Since the two were together after 38 years, the expectations for this film were high. But the film was released and received mixed reviews. The film has been struggling to reach the 50 crore collection after two weeks. While the film ‘Nayagan’ is considered a classic in the history of cinema, fans were expecting ‘Thug Life’ to be like that film. The expectations for the film increased further after the release of the title and title teaser. ‘Thug Life’, which faced a setback, also starred many leading actors including Silambarasan, Trisha, aishwarya Lakshmi, Abhirami, Nasser, and Joju George. Initially, it was said that dulquer salmaan and Fahadh Faasil would play the lead roles in this film. But the fact that both of them opted out of the film was seen as a big setback. Also, the film was said to be a gangster film. However, after the release of the film, the screenplay for the gangster storyline was not prepared. This left the fans in a great disappointment. The fact that the central character of the story was not clearly shown, and the ambition of the lead character was not clearly emphasized, were considered a big setback for the film.

The screenplay moved at a snail’s pace, which made the audience lose patience. The screenplay was confusing in many places due to the flashback story and the present-day story being mixed up. The parts that needed to move quickly caused lags here and there. The scenes that created expectations failed. The old-fashioned dialogue bored the audience. A.R. But his style was old, the songs were used in the wrong places instead of where they were needed, and the background music was absurd in the sad scenes, which reduced the value of the film. VFX scenes were unrealistic in many places. Action scenes were not suitable for modern cinema. Artificiality was seen to increase. The teaser, trailer, and promotion videos that were released in a grand manner raised the expectations for the film. But after the film was released, it did not even meet the minimum expectations of the fans. Fans have been giving negative reviews since the first day of the film's release. The movie 'Thug Life', which had a good start in the collection from the start of free booking till the first day, saw a decline in the subsequent days. The crowd in the theaters decreased from the second day. Also, the struggle between the son and the father to win the adoptive father's girlfriend is not a suitable screenplay for tamil film fans. Many fans criticized this story. Fans expressed their displeasure that it was not a film that could be enjoyed with the family.

Furthermore, the film was not released in karnataka due to the kannada language controversy. This also affected the film's collection. Even though Kamal approached the court, he was not given a favorable verdict. The distributors said that the film would not be released until Kamal apologized. The court also insisted that Kamal apologize. An appeal was filed in the supreme court against the High Court's order. However, the karnataka Chamber of Commerce has issued an announcement that Kamal's film will not be released. The distributors have also decided not to release the film.

The film 'Thug Life', which had been facing continuous declines due to many such problems, has collected Rs. 47.65 crores at the end of two weeks. The film, which had collected Rs. 44 crores in the first week, faced a sharp decline in the following days. On the ninth day, it collected only Rs. 75 lakhs, on the tenth day, Rs. 90 lakhs, on the 11th day, Rs. 90 lakhs, on the twelfth day, Rs. 35 lakhs, on the 13th day, Rs. 30 lakhs, and on the 14th day, it collected only Rs. 32 lakhs. It has been reported that as of thursday evening, the 15th day, it has collected only about Rs. 13 lakh. The fact that this film, which was made with a huge budget and a huge cast, is struggling to collect even Rs. 50 crore has come as a shock to Kamal fans.

With the film ‘Thug Life’ facing a huge setback in its collection, it is said that this film will be released on Netflix’s OTT platform. As Netflix has bought the OTT rights to this film, an announcement is expected to be made soon.
