He even said that once priyanka got so upset about a role that she left the set crying. Sunil said that priyanka was very upset about 'Aitraaz'. 'She felt that Kareena's role was stronger. She got disturbed, and she left my office crying. But I explained to her that this film is important for her. And then that film became her turning point.'
Not only this, while talking about Priyanka's journey, sunil said, 'When she was at the top of her career, some powerful camps tried to pull her down. But she did not give up, fought, and then established herself at a new height.' Sunil recalled the time when, after 'Andaaz', he wanted to cast priyanka and Akshay again in 'Barsaat'. But then the talk of their affair was in full swing. Without naming anyone, sunil admitted that some personal circumstances changed the direction of the film.
He said, when I cast priyanka and Akshay in 'Andaaz' and then tried to bring them together again in 'Barsaat', the beginning was great. The songs were recorded, the first song was shot, which is still on YouTube, and the chemistry between the two is amazing. But unfortunately, due to some personal circumstances, Akshay and Priyanka could not work together further. At that time, rumours of their affair were rife, and I think that changed the direction of our film.
He further said, 'Removing Akshay from the film was not just a creative decision for me, it was a shock on a personal level. I kept priyanka in the film and replaced Akshay with bobby Deol.'
Sunil proudly says, 'Priyanka is not just a star, she is a fighter. It has been from 2002 to 2024, and she still comes back like a newcomer every time. She is very intelligent. The grace and power with which she conducts herself at the international level is amazing.' Answering this question, he said, 'I last met priyanka at her wedding. She was the bride, but still she had control over the entire reception. As if it were a field event. She has a different kind of ability. Her command and confidence are worth seeing.'
