Gandhi Talks is an upcoming bold silent black comedy featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy, and aditi rao hydari in lead roles.

Backed by Zee Studios, the film is slated for a theatrical release on january 30.

Concept and Vision

Directed by kishore Belekar, gandhi Talks revives the essence of early cinema by relying entirely on silence, expressions, and music instead of dialogue.

Belekar described the film as an exploration of “trusting silence,” aiming to return to cinema’s most elemental form—pure performance and emotion.

The director highlighted that the cast embraced the vulnerability required for a silent film, allowing emotions and physical performances to take centre stage.

Music as the Narrative Voice

The film’s emotional backbone comes from music composed by A. R. Rahman.

In the absence of spoken words, Rahman’s score functions as the narrator, guiding audiences through the emotional and thematic journey of the film.

The music adds depth, mood, and continuity, becoming the voice of the story itself.

Story and Themes

Gandhi Talks is reportedly a black comedy that examines the contrast between mahatma Gandhi’s ideals and his image on indian currency notes.

The narrative follows a young man’s struggle for money and his unexpected encounters with a thief, using irony and stillness to reflect on materialism and values.

The film chooses restraint and emotion over scale and spectacle, making a quiet yet impactful statement.

Ensemble Cast

Along with the lead trio, the film also features siddharth Jadhav in a key role.

The ensemble is described as one of the film’s strongest assets, bringing nuance and depth to the silent format.
