The world renowned Astro physicist Stephen Hawking, aged 76 had passed away today.  Born in 1942, Stephen Hawking was one of the most prominent people in the world known for inspiring people with his works and motivational activities and scientific brilliance. Well known for his works, A Brief History of Time, and Black Holes and Baby Universes and Other Essays, The Universe in a nutshell, here are few interesting facts on the interesting personality.

 


Stephen Hawking was not a very good student, as he maintained only average grades. Though he loved science, he hated biology as it was too descriptive and majored physics. He was a part of the Oxford University Rowing team and controlled steering and stroke rate. He fought his physical challenges and turned an inspiration for many. With his theories on cosmology and quantum physics, he showed that the universe is boundless.

While he had lost a bet on black holes, he admitted defeat. He had won many awards for his contributions, and was into Royal society, and won Pius XI gold medal from Pope, and also the Albert Einstein award, besides 12 honorary degrees. He had also coauthored a children's book George's secret key to universe.  Stephen believed existence of aliens and he was also presented in the animated series The Simpsons, as well as having a film, The Theory of Everything made on him.
