Tax-related irregularities against the BCC?...

In addition to accusing the BCC of numerous tax-related errors, the CBDT statement noted that other significant results were made throughout the survey.

60 hours survey in BBC offices

The Income Tax Department's survey operation on BBC's delhi and mumbai offices lasted for about 60 hours. This operation, which started on 14th February, ended on thursday night i.e. 16th February. Apart from alleging various tax-related irregularities against the London-headquartered media company, the CBDT statement also talked about adopting "delay tactics" during the survey.

According to the statement, "The survey revealed that despite substantial consumption of content in various indian languages (other than English), the income/profit shown by various units of the group is not commensurate with the scale of operations in India." The CBDT said, "The department has collected several pieces of evidence relating to its operations which indicate that tax has not been paid on certain foreign remittances and this amount has not been recognized as income in india by the group's foreign entities."

The statement of the employees will be investigated in the survey

The CBDT said that the services of substitute staff were used by the BBC in the income tax survey and for this reimbursement was also made by the indian unit to the concerned foreign body. There is a provision to deduct tax from the remuneration of the employee on such remittance but this has not been done. Apart from this, several discrepancies have also come to light in the survey regarding transfer pricing (transactions between related parties) documents. According to this statement, "significant evidence" has come to the fore through the statements of employees, wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital evidence and documents in the survey of Income Tax officials, which will be further examined.
