Loudspeaker Controversy: Mosques again in dispute...


Due to loudspeakers installed on mosques in Uttar Pradesh, once again a controversy seems to be arising. The Uttar Pradesh Minorities Commission has written a letter to the state government accusing it of removing loudspeakers that follow the rules. Commission's chairman Ashfaq Saifi has termed it as contempt of allahabad High Court's decision. Along with this, keeping in mind the upcoming month of Ramadan, an appeal has been made not to remove the speaker.

Commission's allegation, Speakers who are within the ambit of the rules should also be removed.

Ashfaq Saifi, Chairman of the UP Minorities Commission, has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh. In the letter, he has demanded to ensure electricity, water and sanitation for the month of Ramadan starting from march 23. Also, he said in the letter, complaints have been received from many districts. In these, information has been received about loudspeakers installed on mosques being forcibly removed by the local authorities under the rules. These loudspeakers were installed following all the guidelines of the allahabad High court including the fixed decibel limit. He has demanded the state government not to remove these loudspeakers and to take action against the officials who do so.
