This procession was taken out under the leadership of bjp mp dilip ghosh at Rishra in Hooghly. After Ghosh's departure, suddenly two groups started fighting and pelting stones. The incident of arson was also carried out during the violence. bjp leader dilip ghosh alleged that women and children were pelted with stones during the procession. Even after the violence in Howrah, the state government is not taking any action. Section 144 has been imposed in some parts of Rishra due to violent clashes. While internet services have been stopped for 24 hours.

Situation normal after clashes in Howrah

On the other hand, the situation is returning to normal in Shibpur and Kazipada areas of Howrah district after a clash between two groups during the procession taken out on ram Navami. A senior official said that markets were open on sunday and vehicles were plying on the roads. The restriction is still in effect, though. He claimed that members of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) were on patrol to keep the calm.
