Chief minister M.K.Stalin has advised that public, workers in open places and long distance road travelers should be safe in order to protect themselves from the heat wave and follow the precautionary measures of the government.
In this regard, he issued a statement yesterday: The summer heat has been increasing in tamil Nadu for the past few days. According to the indian Meteorological Center on May 19, tamil Nadu has recorded 2 to 3 degrees more heat than normal. In particular, 41.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Vellore and 41.5 degrees Celsius in Karur-Paramathi. According to the Meteorological Department, it will be 2 to 3 degrees warmer than normal for the next 2 days.

As the temperature is increasing in tamil Nadu, the officials of the concerned department should make appropriate arrangements so that the mahatma gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme employees, agricultural workers, construction workers, road workers working in open places start their work early in the morning and finish before the impact of the heat wave increases. Also, these workers have been advised to provide adequate drinking water, ORS availability, shelters and first aid facilities.

The local bodies and related department officials have been advised to make arrangements for adequate drinking water facilities, shelters for rest and emergency medical facilities at places where people congregate in large numbers such as bus stands, markets, hospitals, government offices, tourist spots, places of worship.

Provide adequate rest to workers in factories, factories where surplus heat is generated, and ensure provision of ambulance services at nearby government and private hospitals for emergency assistance.

Adequate awareness should be created to protect the general public, the elderly, pregnant women and children from the impact of heat wave. I request the public, people working in open places and those undertaking long distance road journeys to be safe through the measures taken to face the increasing summer heat in tamil Nadu and by following the precautionary measures announced by the government. This was stated by the Chief Minister.
