On Sunday, May 28, prime minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to dedicate the new parliament building in Delhi. According to a lok sabha announcement from last week, "Construction of the New parliament Building is now complete and the new building symbolizes the spirit of self-reliant india (Atmanirbhar Bharat)."

The building's development started in january 2021 after PM Modi set the building's foundation stone on december 10, 2020. The building was constructed next to the current parliament house by Tata Projects Limited and was designed by Ahmedabad-based HCP Design, Planning, and Management under architect Bimal Patel.

Can accommodate more parliamentarians
The new structure, which is located next to the current parliament house, would be able to house 888 lok sabha members and 300 rajya sabha members, respectively, instead of the current 543 and 250.

The New parliament building spread over 65,000 sq meters
The previous parliament building is a circular structure with a diameter of 560 feet (170.69 meters), a circumference of one-third of a mile (536.33 meters), and a surface area of about six acres (24,281 sq m). The new parliament building will be stretched out across an area of around 64,500 sq m.

LS chamber to be used for joint sessions
The lok sabha chamber will be utilized for joint sessions in place of the present Parliament's Central Hall in the new structure.

State-of-art technology in the new building
According to the Central Vista website, the ancient building's lack of compliance with contemporary fire safety regulations made fire safety a top issue. There were several other electrical cables, which may have caused a fire. In addition, unplanned additions to utilities over time, such as water supply lines, sewer lines, air conditioning, firefighting, CCTV, audio-video system, etc., had caused seepages and damaged the building's overall aesthetics.

The new structure, on the other hand, is equipped with cutting-edge technology, such as programmable microphones, wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital language interpretation or translation systems, and biometrics for simple voting. According to rumours, virtual sound simulations would be installed in the halls' interiors to regulate reverberation levels and prevent echos.
