The central government has given an explanation regarding the operation of the passenger train by the private sector.

The Ministry of Railways has said it has canceled the auction to run passenger trains through private companies.

The Ministry of Railways has decided to launch a separate unit called 'Bharat Kaurav' exclusively for tourism to showcase the culture and heritage of the country. To this end, the central government has decided to privatize 151 trains on 109 routes across the country.

Among them, 12 trains run from chennai to cities including Trichy, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Bangalore and 13 trains running from Kanyakumari to ernakulam were awarded contract points for privatization.

Only irctc and Mega Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd. have shown interest. The number of companies has now dropped drastically from 16 companies last year.

Responding to a question in the Lok Sabha, the Railway Ministry said the auction would be canceled due to a lack of response from private companies to run passenger trains.

If the trains go private then the oldest and cheapest transport will become costly. The passengers and common men will never encourage this and there may be a downfall in the upcoming elections.
