On the night between april 29 and 30, a car struck two men riding a bike at the intersection of Kasturba gandhi Marg and Tolstoy Marg in Delhi. When the car struck the bike, Dipanshu Verma (30) fell onto the roof of the car that hit them, while Mukul (20) jumped clear of the moving object.
The vehicle carried Dipanshu's body for around three km without stopping. Mohammad Bilal, an eyewitness, followed the car on a scooter and recorded a video showing Dipanshu's body lying on the top. Bilal honked and shouted to get the driver's attention, but the automobile did not stop. The accused drove nonstop for almost three kilometres before throwing down Dipanshu's body near india gate and taking off.
While Mukul, his cousin, suffered severe injuries and is currently in a critical condition, Dipanshu Verma passed away as a result of the accident. The suspect, known as Harneet Sngh Chawla, has been detained after the delhi Police reported the incident as a murder. In the car with him was his family. A former owner of a jewellery store, Deepanshu Verma was an only child. His parents and sister have both passed on.
