With an astounding 72 lakh orders for biryani issued in the past six months alone, hyderabad has established itself as the indisputable nation's biryani capital. Hyderabadis have demonstrated their unwavering devotion to this legendary cuisine, contributing to a total of 150 lakh biryani orders in the last 12 months, according to data made public by Swiggy. The statistics give an intriguing glimpse into the city's culinary scene, where the dum biryani reigns supreme and is a favorite among locals.

According to data from Swiggy, biryani orders increased 8.39% during the first half of 2023 compared to the same time in the previous year. With nearly 9 lakh orders, dum biryani has the biggest demand, while biryani rice has 7.9 lakh orders. Not to be forgotten, over 5.2 lakh people ordered the tiny biryani.

Biryani enthusiasts will find themselves in heaven in hyderabad, where there are over 15,000 establishments serving the dish. The top regions with the largest concentration of restaurants selling biryani have been identified as Kukatpally, Madhapur, Ameerpet, Banjara Hills, Kothapet, and Dilsukhnagar.

Looking more closely at the hotspots for biryani consumption, we find that order quantities significantly increased in several areas of Hyderabad. The top biryani destination is Kukatpally, closely followed by Madhapur, Banjara Hills, Gachibowli, and Kondapur. Orders placed between january 2023 and june 15th, 2023, served as the basis for Swiggy's thorough study.
