West bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on thursday (July 20) attacked prime minister Narendra Modi for stripping and parading two women in Manipur. He said that PM Modi has divided the country by mentioning other states including chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.Mamta Banerjee said, "PM Modi did not talk about Manipur. He joined West bengal, chhattisgarh and rajasthan with Manipur, but divided the country. It doesn't happen like this. Bad things are bad. It is not right to press something to attack us. Today these people have become merchants of violence and loot of women.

Banerjee further said that the mothers and sisters of our country are mourning. According to the news agency PTI, she said that she is in talks with the Chief Ministers of other states regarding visiting Manipur.

What did PM Modi say?

PM Modi told the media before the commencement of the monsoon session of Parliament, "Whether the incident is of rajasthan, chhattisgarh or Manipur, any state government in this country, in any corner of India, should rise above political debate and give importance to law and order and protect the honor of women." He further said that I want to assure the countrymen that no criminal will be spared. The law will take one step after another with all its might and with all its might. The culprits of what has happened to the daughters of Manipur can never be forgiven.
