The petition filed against the release of former mp and bahubali anand Mohan Singh could not be heard in the
Supreme court on friday (August 11). The supreme court questioned the bihar government that in april this year,
along with former lok sabha mp anand Mohan, how many criminals were convicted of killing a public servant on
duty, who were exempted from punishment.
G Krishnaiah's wife has filed a petition
The bihar government has told the apex court that a total of 97 convicts, including Mohan, who was serving life
sentence in the murder of the then district Magistrate of Gopalganj G Krishnaiah in 1994, were released prematurely
at the same time. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Dipankar Dutta adjourned the final hearing till September
26 on the petition challenging the exemption granted to anand Mohan. This petition has been filed by the wife of the
slain IAS officer.
At the same time, the apex court allowed senior advocate Ranjit Kumar, appearing for the bihar government, to file
an additional affidavit, in which he has been asked to give the details of the released convicts, who were convicted of
killing a public servant. . Senior advocate siddharth Luthra, appearing for Uma Krishnaiah, wife of the slain officer,
sought that the state be asked to give him the original records of exemption granted to anand Mohan to prepare his
response, but Ranjit Kumar rejected the request. objected and said that if Luthra's client wants the original records
related to the exemption, she can file an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
