An Imphal based organization has banned popular manipuri film star Soma Laishram from working in films
and participating in social events for three years. It is being said that this organization had appealed to many
celebrities not to participate in entertainment programs as long as Manipur is burning with the fire of
violence. But Soma Laishram did not listen to him due to which he was banned.
Why was actor Laishram banned?
Kangleipak Kanba Loop (KKL) group said film star Soma Laishram had participated in a beauty pageant in
New delhi on september 16, against the general call for actors to avoid such events in view of the ongoing

FFM criticized the ban imposed on Laishram
Meanwhile, Film Forum Manipur (FFM), an organization of all film bodies in the state, strongly criticized
KKL’s decision imposed on Laishram and said that it will try to get the ban revoked.
