
The chennai District Principal Sessions court has extended the judicial custody of minister Senthil balaji till october 13th. The enforcement department officials arrested minister Senthil balaji on june 14th in the case of illegal transactions. The madras Principal Session ordered him to be remanded in judicial custody. Accordingly, he has been lodged in Puzhal Jail, Chennai. Earlier, the supreme court dismissed the appeals filed by Senthil Balaji's wife against the two cases of recruitment and illegal arrest and allowed the enforcement department to remand him for 5 days and interrogate him. Subsequently, on the permission of the madras Principal Sessions court, Senthil balaji was taken into custody and interrogated by the Enforcement Department from august 8 to 12.
Senthil balaji was then produced in the madras High Court. On the same day, the Enforcement Directorate filed a charge sheet of more than 120 pages and 3,000 pages of documents against him. Meanwhile, his court custody kept getting extended. Accordingly, as the court custody of minister Senthil balaji ended today, the enforcement officers produced him in the chennai District Principal Sessions Court. Judge Alli of the chennai District Principal Sessions court, who heard the case, extended the judicial custody of minister Senthil balaji for another 14 days till october 13.
Earlier, the madras Principal Sessions court had ordered the transfer of the Enforcement Directorate's case against minister Senthil balaji to a special court that hears cases of mp MLAs. Subsequently, confusion persisted as to which court would hear the bail petition filed by Senthil Balaji. On a related issue, the high court directed the madras Principal Sessions court to hear Senthil Balaji's bail plea.
Accordingly, a petition was filed by Senthil balaji in the Principal Sessions court of chennai seeking bail. It is noteworthy that the court which heard the case rejected the bail plea of minister Senthil Balaji.
