Vijayawada: Because of the partial moon eclipse that day, Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam, located atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada, would be closed on Saturday, october 28, at 6:30 p.m. Reopening at 3 a.m. on sunday, october 29 is the temple. On sunday morning, rituals such as Snapanabhishekam will be carried out prior to granting individuals the opportunity to get darshan of the Goddess. The temple's upalayams will be closed during the moon eclipse as well.

On Thursday, a dog broke inside the simhachalam temple located near Visakhapatnam. Because this would compromise the temple's holiness, administrators halted darshan for two hours. The Samprokshana ceremony had to be done by temple priests, thus devotees had to wait. Only then was the shrine open to worshippers. Devotees said that because of staff incompetence, the stray dog got into the shrine.
