Gopichand Hinduja tops sunday Times Rich List: England's sunday Times magazine has published the ranking of 1,000 rich people or rich families living in the country, in which Gopichand Hinduja, chairman of Hinduja Group, has topped the list.

It is also noteworthy that the Hinduja family of indian origin has made it to the list for the sixth consecutive year in Britain. In 2024, Hinduja's assets will increase by around 2.196 billion pounds to 37.196 billion at present.


Born in 1940, Gopichand Hinduja is popularly known as 'GP' in business circles. He is the Chairman of Induja Group and Induja Automotive Limited. The Hinduja Group is a multinational conglomerate with businesses in trucks, lubricants, banking and cable television.

Gopichand was the second son of his father Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja. Parmanand Hinduja, a native of Sindh, India, started his business in 1914. Gopichand joined his father's business in 1959 while in Mumbai. He took over as chairman of the group following the death of his elder brother Sreeschand Hinduja in May last year.


87-year-old Gopichand graduated from the then bombay Jaihind college in 1959. He holds an honorary doctorate in law from the university of Westminster and an honorary doctorate in economics from Richmond college, London.

Gopichand Hinduja is one of four brothers. Two of them looked after the family business empire. But the company remains owned by four brothers Sreeschand, Gopichand, Prakash and Ashok.


British-American businessman Leonard Blavatnik is second only to Gopichand Hinduja in the sunday Times Rich List. His net worth has increased by £621 million and now stands at £29.246 billion.
